Local Energy Company Gets Naming Rights For Iowa State Football Field

Iowa State athletics is "doling out naming rights to the field at Jack Trice Stadium for the first time," as Des Moines-based MidAmerican Energy will pay the school $1.5M annually over the next 10 years to "have its branding on the grass," according to Peterson, Birch & Lawhon of the DES MOINES REGISTER. The playing surface at ISU's football stadium "will be named MidAmerican Energy Field," but the complex "will retain its Jack Trice Stadium name." The agreement is "part of the overall fundraising plan for Iowa State's new Student Performance Center." ISU AD Jamie Pollard said that the project "remains in its developmental phase with architects." A full cost estimate "will be available at a later date." Pollard also said that MidAmerican's contribution is the "next evolution of its partnership with Iowa State that stretches into its third decade" (DES MOINES REGISTER, 8/2).
