Cowboys Opening Up Five Training Camp Practices Next Month For Fans

The Cowboys will hold five public training camp practices at the team’s HQ in Frisco, Texas, next month. There will be open practices Aug. 20-21, 23, 24 and 28 at the Ford Center at The Star. The team splits training camp between the Dallas suburb and Oxnard, Calif., and it drew 44,321 fans to six practices at The Star last summer, the first time part of training camp was held there. Cowboys Exec VP & Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones Anderson said admission and parking are free to the Frisco practices and fans do not have to register for tickets. “That clearly opens up to people who have never been able to be part of a ballgame,” she said. Several NFL teams charge for parking, while others have fans register for free training camp tickets. Jones Anderson said having training camp both in California and Texas aims to connect with fans and grow the team’s fan base. “Every day the guys are signing autographs and they are walking around. It’s creating deeper touch points in terms (of) engagement,” she said. American Airlines sponsors both the Frisco and Oxnard portions of Cowboys camp. The team also has a promotion with JCPenney where fans who have bought a special training camp shirt get early admittance and concessions discounts to the Texas practices. The Cowboys are also hosting free interactive football events throughout the $1.5B The Star development during camp.
