Weekend Plans With MLS' Jennifer Cramer: Family Reunion, ASG

Cramer often makes time for her children, Kaitlyn and Jason, on Friday nights after workJENNIFER CRAMER

MLS VP/Partnership Marketing JENNIFER CRAMER has spent the week getting her ducks in a row for next Wednesday's All-Star Game, but before she heads to Atlanta for those festivities, she'll make room for a little relaxation and family time. THE DAILY caught up with Cramer earlier this week to talk All-Star preparation, a unique reunion planned for this weekend and how she winds down away from the office in her free time.

LAYING THE GROUNDWORK: This week has been one of our busiest weeks of the year. The All-Star festivities kick off on Saturday with a block party at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark on the Atlanta BeltLine. However, I have some personal things I have to do so I won’t get there until Sunday. My biggest stress is the calendar just because there are so many sponsor and league activities happening roughly around the same time. So I am trying to make sure there is ample coverage and I get to spend quality time with all the partners. That’s the entire week. It’s stressful because you want everything to go perfectly. There’s definitely a lot of preparation and last minute changes and requests that happen all the time. But to be able to work in sports and participate in these events is just so much fun.

FAMILIAR FACES: Every weekend for me is almost exactly the same -- it’s around food and family and 'futbol.' Friday night I usually come home from work and drag my family for a walk around our neighborhood in Westchester. We make our way to this sushi restaurant where they pour me a really generous glass of wine. Then we go just down the block for ice cream. After that we walk back home in the early evening and we’ll relax by either watching Netflix or reading a book (in my case). We have yet to watch the second season of "STRANGER THINGS" because it’s been so nice outside. I think of Netflix really more for the winter time but that’s very much on our list. Saturday I’m heading to a family reunion in Boston. My husband recently reunited with his cousins on his father's side. They used to hang out when they were kids, but as they got older they drifted apart. So we got to talking about getting the entire family together because my kids have yet to meet their kids. The funny thing is, I follow their pictures on Facebook, but some of the kids I’ve never actually met before.

HEADED DOWN SOUTH: Sunday night I’ll head to Atlanta for a 2 CHAINZ ASG concert. Pregame we may go down to the field with some select partners but for the most part I’m in the suites hosting and entertaining. Then there’s also some community events beforehand where we’ll stop by for some handshakes and meet and greets.

AWAY FROM THE PITCH: In my free time I’m obsessed with spinning and barre classes. I hurt my back recently and actually had to give spinning a break, but since then I’ve gotten into barre. It’s one of those things that’s really humbling. You go in with the expectation that it’s super easy but then by the end you’re slightly embarrassed. Every time I progress I get really excited. We like to go to Newport, R.I., for the occasional weekend getaway. It’s not too far but not to close and there’s a lot to do. There’s the beach for the kids, plenty of shopping, the harbor, it’s relatively inexpensive and we don’t have to plan the trip too far ahead of time.
