Foles Rides Super Bowl Title To Top Spot On NFLPA Merch Sales List

The NFLPA released its list of the top 50 officially licensed NFL player branded merchandise sales from March 1-May 31, and Eagles QB Nick Foles, who led the team to a Super Bowl title, ranked No. 1 during the time period. The highest spot Foles previously reach on the list was No. 18 back in Q3 of '15. He was one of six QBs in the top 10 this past quarter. The Q1 top 50 list also saw 13 players debut, including 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo's debut in the top 10. The '18 NFLPA Rising Stars List had 10 players jump into the overall Top 50, including five rookies -- Giants RB Saquon Barkley, Jets QB Sam Darnold, Browns QB Baker Mayfield, Bills QB Josh Allen and Seahawks LB Shaquem Griffin. Barkley sold the most jerseys of any player by a wide margin (NFLPA). In Philadelphia, EJ Smith noted the merch measured by the NFLPA "includes photography products, which Foles was the leader in." Eagles QB Carson Wentz "finished third in the rankings," with Patriots QB Tom Brady finishing second." Oddly enough, Brady "led in pet merchandise sales" (PHILLY.com, 7/19). ESPN.com's Darren Rovell noted a player experiencing a "big leap up" from first quarter merchandise sales last year was Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, who jumped from No. 48 to No. 16. Players who saw their rankings "fall drastically from a year ago" included Giants QB Eli Manning (No. 36 to No. 48) and Rams RB Todd Gurley (No. 27 to No. 50). Brady sold the "most youth and college jerseys of any NFL player" (ESPN.com, 7/19).
