The Big Ten promoted the following: TONY BUYNISKI to Assistant Commissioner/Officiating Services; BRANDON WINBUSH to Senior Dir of IT; CHRIS ALTHOFF to Associate Dir of Branding; SATVIK PATEL to Associate Dir of Business Operations; and SHANNON MALONE to Assistant Dir of Communications. The conference also named LAURA ANDERSON Controller and GRACE BONOMA Assistant Dir of Sports Administration (Big Ten).

HOOPS HYPE: The Mavericks promoted Assistant VP/Basketball Operations MICHAEL FINLEY to VP/Basketball Operations (TWITTER.com, 7/5)....The Pistons named Nets Dir of Player Personnel GREGG POLINSKY to the same position. Polinsky will "oversee the scouting department" and report to Senior Adviser ED STEFANSKI. The two "worked together previously" with the Nets (DETROITNEWS.com, 7/5).

EXECS: UnitedHealth Group named Cubs Managing Dir of Corporate Sponsorships ALLEN HERMELING Senior VP/Sponsorships & Growth (THE DAILY)....Streaming service FuboTV named GEIR MAGNUSSON JR. CTO. FuboTV had "enlisted Magusson as a technology consultant earlier this year" and now "officially brought him on board" (VARIETY.com, 7/5)....UC-Irvine promoted Deputy AD PAULA SMITH to interim AD following the departure of MICHAEL IZZI to Cal State-Northridge. Smith also acted as interim AD from August '07 to February '08 (UCI)....The Miami Super Bowl Host Committee brought on the following execs: BASIL BINNS as VP/Business Connect & Community Outreach; JOE FERNANDEZ as Partnership Coordinator; RANDI FREEDMAN as VP/Producer, Events & Logistics; ELLE KEHOE as VP/Volunteers; WILLIAM PENELAS as Finance Manager; and MELINA SAJOUS as Office Manager (Miami Super Bowl Host Committee).
