Audience Analysis: Braves-Yanks Delivers Big Local RSN Ratings

The beginning of the Braves-Yankees series on Monday night was a winner for both YES Network and FS Southeast. The game drew a 5.84 local rating in N.Y., marking the RSN’s best non-Red Sox telecast since Derek Jeter’s home finale on Sept. 24, 2014. Excluding any Red Sox games or Jeter’s finale, Monday’s Braves-Yankees game was the RSN’s highest-rated Yankees game since ’11. Meanwhile, FS Southeast drew a 5.46 local rating for the game in the Atlanta market. That is the RSN’s best Braves game figure since Aug. 17, 2013.

SWING OF THINGS: This year’s College World Series averaged 1.13 million viewers across ESPN networks, up 4% from last year. Including the CWS, Regionals and Super Regionals, ESPN networks had the best NCAA D-I Baseball Championships audience since ’12. Each round saw an increase over ’17.

UP, UP & AWAY: After three months of the season, each MLB Network studio show is seeing year-over-year viewership growth. “High Heat” leads the way with a 47% increase at the halfway point of the ’18 season, followed by “MLB Central” (+24%). “The Rundown” is up 20%, while “MLB Now” is up 19% and “Intentional Talk” is up 8%.
