The Linder Family Tennis Center near Cincinnati received $25M in upgrades this year, and the renovations are "scheduled to be completed in plenty of time" for the WTA/ATP Western & Southern Open in August, according to the CINCINNATI INQUIRER. An overhaul of the venue's south grandstand "made up the vast majority" of the improvements. The tourney is "one of the premier tennis events staged in America" and a "top hard-court event for the entire tennis world." Western & Southern Open officials were told to "complete more than a year's worth of upgrades and renovations to the south grandstand on Center Court in about 10-and-a-half months." The fourth floor's "'all-inclusive' area features 126 outdoor seats, a bar, a gourmet buffet and an indoor club area," and covers 6,000 square feet. The Grandview boxes on the third floor "feature outdoor seating for Center Court with an air-conditioned club area that boasts restrooms, food and beverage." To the back of the building is a "balcony overlooking the Grandstand Court where high-profile matches are also staged." The second floor "features air-conditioned, enclosed box seating, a full bar, and restaurant with unobstructed views of Center Court." The renovation also includes an "expansion of the venue's existing audio system," and the restaurant's dining area will "have tables in the enclosed space that will overlook the Grandstand Court" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 6/25).
