Ducks Bring On UCI Health As Sponsor Of 25th Anniversary Season

The Ducks have signed a three-year partnership with UCI Health to serve as the team’s first-ever season presenting sponsor as well as its official hospital partner. As part of the deal, UCI Health will be included in a joint logo that will be used to celebrate the Ducks’ 25th anniversary this upcoming season. Other assets in the deal include in-market branding across Ducks’ social media channels and its website, in-arena and outdoor signage and specific game-night takeovers. UCI Health will also be incorporated into both the Ducks’ TV and radio broadcasts. Ducks Chief Commercial Officer Bill Pedigo said that the team started to consider having a presenting sponsor as it began planning for its anniversary season, determining that it wanted to partner with both a strong brand as well as a partner who was interested in being very active in the community. The hospital category was previously open for the Ducks, though the team does have a children's hospital partner in the Children's Hospital of Orange County. UCI Health CEO Richard Gannotta said that while the team and the university of which it is part of had a previous relationship, the hospital did not, making his organization very excited to combine on the community initiatives that are part of the partnership. Ducks players, members of the street team and mascot Wild Wing will take part in activities with UCI Health hospital staff and patients throughout the season, while UCI Health will support the Ducks’ community initiatives. It will staff the first aid station at the team’s special events and at Honda Center for all events. Pedigo declined to comment on the financial terms of the deal, but said that the deal was a multi-million dollar one that puts UCI Health "at the very upper echelon-level in terms of money spent with the building and team.” Gannotta said that for the hospital, the team’s 25th anniversary season is a great moment to celebrate “what they’ve brought to the community in a real rallying point around sports, creating that sense of belonging and community -- we have a shared dedication to do the same.”
