Fanatics, Uber Team Up To Deliver Capitals Championship Gear

Capitals' locker room championship hats are currently being sold for $34.99FANATICS

Fanatics is partnering with Uber to allow Capitals fans in the DC area to buy official Stanley Cup championship T-shirts and hats on demand. Fans in the region beginning Friday morning were able to order the merchandise through the Uber Eats app and have it delivered within around 10 minutes. The promo will run until merchandise sells out. Fanatics and Uber previously teamed up on this type of deal in '16 when the Cubs won the World Series and '17 when the Patriots won Super Bowl LI. This marks the first time Fanatics and Uber have run this promotion around the Stanley Cup Final. Fanatics makes the on-ice Stanley Cup merchandise, runs NHLShop.com and operates the retail for the Capitals in Capital One Arena. Uber is the official ride share for the Caps. Both the locker room championship T-shirts and the locker room championship hats are being sold for $34.99 (John Ourand, Staff Writer).

NOT WASTING ANY TIME: WTOP-FM’s Neal Augenstein notes DC-area locations for Modell’s, Dick’s and other sporting good chains “opened their doors immediately after the final horn” to Thursday's Stanley Cup Final Game 5 to sell Caps merchandise, and some stores “remained open until early-morning demand withered.” There were dozens of fans early Friday morning standing outside one Modell’s location waiting for the store to “open its doors” at 6:00am ET. Store manager Larry Smith: “We had a mountain load of boxes delivered Thursday morning” (WTOP.com, 6/8).
