KPMG announced a global sponsorship agreement with Irish golfers Leona and Lisa Maguire. The twin sisters will wear the KPMG logo on the front of their caps during all golf-related appearances, beginning this week at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway, N.J., where they will make their professional debuts. KPMG also sponsors Phil Mickelson, LPGA player Stacy Lewis and male player Maverick McNealy. KPMG is also the title sponsor of the KPMG Women's PGA Championship (KPMG). The sisters also signed on with Modest! Golf to be their management company, with Lisa calling it a "great fit" for starting her professional career. Modest! Golf is owned by Irish singer Niall Horan, a founding member of the band One Direction. Leona Maguire said, "They’re ambitious and as I start my pro career I want someone that’s going to be as equally ambitious as me." She noted Modest! Golf has "strong ties to Ireland, and my Irish connection is something that’s always been very close to my heart." Horan said the company is “only two years old” and the firm is “looking forward to start working in America as well." Leona Maguire said it is “great to see a global company investing so heavily” in women’s golf ("Morning Drive," Golf Channel, 6/6). The twins also signed a deal with Allianz as they "set out on their professional careers," and Puma Golf is "on board" for apparel (IRISHTIMES.com, 6/6).
JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED: GOLFWEEK's Forecaddie noted golfer Doc Redman made his "pro debut" at last week's Memorial Tournament. Redman has a TaylorMade staff bag and "an equipment deal with the company," and was also "sporting some freshly-pressed RLX apparel" (GOLFWEEK.com, 6/1).
