Wrigley Field To Host Another Northwestern Football Game In '20
Northwestern will play its second game at Wrigley Field in '20, with Wisconsin set to be the opponent for college football's "return to the Friendly Confines," according to a source cited by Teddy Greenstein of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Officials from the Cubs and NU will make an official announcement next week. NU last played at Wrigley in '10 against Illinois, when the game only used one end zone due to "safety concerns about a tight squeeze near the right-field wall." Recent upgrades to the ballpark "included removable seats down the third-base line to accommodate a football field NCAA officials would approve." NU and the Cubs had targeted a '14 return, but renovations "got in the way" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/31). Wrigley Field will be the "second unique venue for Wisconsin that season, as the Badgers will face Notre Dame at Lambeau Field in Green Bay" (ESPN.com, 5/30).
