In San Diego, Tod Leonard notes Univ. of Oregon golfer Norman Xiong is "turning pro" after only 1 1/2 seasons at the school and will "play Callaway clubs and wear Travis Mathew clothes." He will be "represented by The Legacy Agency and Mike Creasy, a former agent of Patrick Reed." Xiong's first event "will be a U.S. Open Sectional qualifier on Monday." He has "plans to move to Las Vegas, where he has begun working on his short game" with Jeff Smith, a coach at TPC Summerlin. Xiong is also a "favorite to capture the Haskins and Nicklaus awards as the top college golfer" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 5/30).

THROWING IT BACK: In Sacramento, Matt Barrows notes the 49ers' online team store has "earned about $125,000 from sales" of the the team's new white jerseys. The jerseys are white with "shadowed red numbers, which are based on the uniforms the 49ers wore" during their '94 Super Bowl season. QB Jimmy Garoppolo's No. 10 jersey has "been the top seller," accounting for 63% of the new sales. CB Richard Sherman's No. 25 jersey "came next," making up 8% of the recent sales. The jerseys "can be considered both color-rush and throwback jerseys." Though the '94 team "mostly wore the red home jerseys that season, the jerseys they will wear this year are the white version" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 5/30).

WHERE THERE'S A WILL...: In Baltimore, Lorraine Mirabella notes Under Armour unveiled Dwayne Johnson’s "first signature shoe" -- the Project Rock 1 -- that will sell for $120 a pair. Johnson is "one of eight athletes starring in Under Armour’s new 'Will Finds a Way' ad campaign" (BALTIMORESUN.com, 5/30).
