NFL Says Bills Acted In Appropriate Manner With Brandon Investigation

Brandon helped build extensive partnerships with local companies during his 20-year tenureGETTY IMAGES

The NFL has "closed the books on its examination of the circumstances" that led to Russ Brandon's resignation May 1 as Pegula Sports & Entertainment Managing Partner & President, according to Vic Carucci of the BUFFALO NEWS. A league spokesperson said, "We are satisfied the club addressed the matter in a timely, thorough and appropriate manner. There will be no further action by the league office" (BUFFALONEWS.com, 5/11). In Buffalo, Stephen Watson noted during Brandon’s 20-year tenure with the Bills, the team "built extensive partnerships with local companies." Their corporate partners say that they "plan to stay" with the Bills and Sabres. They "are confident" that PS&E co-Owner, President & CEO Kim Pegula and others in the Bills and Sabres organizations "can fill it." Northtown Automotive Group co-Owner Larry Schreiber, whose company is the official car dealer of the Bills, said, "I don’t think Russ was doing those by himself. I do think that, even in his absence, there’s a good team he has formed and left behind that will be able to carry the ball.” Pegula in a statement said, "Our relationships with our corporate partners have never been stronger." Sources said that Brandon’s departure is "unlikely to affect major developments underway" for the Bills, the Sabres and PS&E (BUFFALONEWS.com, 5/13).
