CAPTAIN KIRK: On Twitter, several ESPNers made a point to congratulate Kirk Herbstreit on his award for Outstanding Event Analyst. Chris Fowler: "Huge Congrats to @KirkHerbstreit for Sports Emmy as best game analyst! Richly deserved and overdue. Proud to work along side you for 22 years. And also to @BobLeyESPN as top host! Both have done truly superb work over decades." SI won Outstanding Digital Innovation for the documentary "Capturing Everest," and Managing Editor Chris Stone tweeted, "A watershed night. ... @SInow’s second Sports Emmy, but the first—of many to come—for the creative genius behind the doc, @miatramz." Yahoo Sports' Michael Lee: "Two months after winning an Oscar, Kobe Bryant has now won a Sports Emmy for 'Dear Basketball.' Who needs to worry about being inserted in the GOAT debate when two years after retirement you’re halfway toward an EGOT?" The Ringer's Bill Simmons: "The Sports Emmys are one of the longest and most insufferable nights of the year. Its like the 7th circle of hell but with a cocktail bar."
