Fowler Hopes "Driven" Jump Starts Production Company Efforts

Golf Channel’s new docu-series "Driven," which follows the Oklahoma State men’s golf team, premieres tonight, marking the second major project produced by Masters runner-up and OSU alum Rickie Fowler’s Main Event Productions. Fowler is serving as Exec Producer of the four-part series that focuses on the '17-18 season, but he said he was really “sitting back and watching” the process of creating the show. Golf Channel President Mike McCarley said while the idea for the project originated within the net, Fowler’s involvement created excitement and “really gave this project a push.” Fowler said he wants to use his media company, which was founded last year, to give fans an “inside look of what they don’t see” on a regular basis. He feels he can balance playing competitively and building the company through more projects. Fowler, who has a large social media following, wants to move past Snapchat and Instagram stories and create more in-depth stories. He added projects that are directly tied to him are “a lot more genuine, authentic and more fun.” He said opportunities for content production are “limitless” and added that his Main Event Productions could potentially turn into the company that helps shoot projects around his sponsorships and has a say in that content’s creation and dispersion. “We’re just getting our feet wet,” Fowler said. “Seeing what we can (do), and it doesn’t seem like there’s a whole lot we can’t necessarily do.” “Driven” will air on Golf Channel tonight and the next two Mondays and conclude on NBC on June 16.
