The meeting "comes after nearly two months of executive departures and conversations at and around Nike about workplace behavior and culture issues." Parker "went on to describe the evolution Nike must now make in light of the revelations about the company's culture, which some current and former female employees have described as a 'boys' club.'" Parker also "suggested that there may be more changes to come at the sportswear giant" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/3). Parker, in his email invitation to the meeting said he wanted “everyone to know that I’m personally committed to making Nike a place where everyone can thrive in an environment of respect, empathy, and equal opportunity for all" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 5/4).
