Facility Notes

In Miami, Adam Beasley reported the Dolphins HQ "might be moving" to Miami-Dade County, as the team is "considering leaving its longtime home in Davie" by '22. While the Dolphins are "mulling a move, one is not guaranteed, and the organization's football operations could remain in Davie." But what is "certain" is that the organization plans to "upgrade its facilities in the next four years." The Dolphins have called their HQ at Nova Southeastern Univ. home since '93 (MIAMI HERALD, 4/29).

EVERYTHING'S COMING TOGETHER: In Ft. Worth, Stefan Stevenson noted in "just over a month," construction is "expected to be in full flurry around TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium as the planned expansion of the east side begins." TCU AD Jeremiah Donati said that the $100M project, "all funded by private donors, is sitting at" about $50M. That is $30M "shy of the benchmark set to get the first shovels in the dirt." The east side renovation will "add approximately 1,750 premium seats and is expected to be ready" for the '19 season. Additionally, renovations to TCU football's practice fields are "expected to be complete in June" (Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/28).

EXTREME MAKEOVER: In Boston, Nick Cafardo noted Blue Jays President & CEO Mark Shapiro was "pleased" that $81M in "funding for renovations of Dunedin Stadium was finally approved by the city." The Blue Jays have had the "worst spring training facility for years." When Shapiro was Indians President, he "couldn't get any Florida municipality to commit to a new home" for the team, so he "moved the Indians' spring home to Arizona" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/29).

READY FOR THE SPOTLIGHT: In Boston, Megan O'Brien noted the inaugural episode of the new season of Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale" almost "immediately begins at Fenway Park." O'Brien: "Or what used to be Fenway Park" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/27).
