Golden Knights Send Secondary Market Prices Sky High For Round 2

An average ticket price for the four possible games hosted at T-Mobile in the next round stands at $691Getty Images

Golden Knights playoff games are the "hottest ticket in the entire NHL" on the secondary market, with an average price of $691 on TicketIQ, according to Jesse Granger of the LAS VEGAS SUN. Tickets for the Golden Knights’ second-round series against the Sharks are the "most expensive" for the round since TicketIQ began tracking NHL ticket sales in '11. The tickets "dried up quickly when they went on sale" from the team yesterday at noon PT, with some fans "being turned away only minutes after." That sent "hopeful buyers to secondary market options like StubHub and TicketIQ, where prices have been steep." The "cheapest ticket sold" on StubHub as of yesterday afternoon was $181, and the most expensive was $3,350 on TicketIQ. The "average price for the four games possibly hosted at T-Mobile Arena (games one, two, five and seven) stands at $691." That is $231 "more expensive than the second-highest conference semifinal of all time," a '15 series between the Rangers and Capitals. TicketIQ Founder Jesse Lawrence said, "Anything that is comparable to these ticket prices is typically associated with an original-six team like the Rangers or the Canadiens" (LAS VEGAS SUN, 4/24). In Las Vegas, Steve Carp notes there was "no lack of inventory" for Sharks-Golden Knights Game 1 on StubHub. Seats in the balcony are "going for $220; some seats a the glass had an asking price of $3,850 per seat." Golden Knights VP/Ticketing & Suites Todd Pollock said, "People expected the prices would increase. But we’re not doing anything different from the other teams. In fact, we’re not asking our season ticket members to pay for their tickets until after the games are played, which I don’t think anyone else (in the NHL) does" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 4/24).

DRIVER'S TEST: In Las Vegas, Art Marroquin noted Nevada DMV officials "have spent the past six months in a back-and-forth with the team" on the design of specialty license plates with the team's logo. Golden Knights PR Coordinator Alyssa Girardi declined to comment yesterday, but said that the design details "are being finalized." DMV spokesperson Kevin Malone said that when the team submits a design, it will "only take a few weeks for the DMV to manufacture, distribute and solicit sales for the plates" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 4/24).
