Penn State AD SANDY BARBOUR's current contract expires Aug. 31, 2019, meaning she is "fast approaching the final 12 months of that deal." Barbour on Thursday said that she is "hoping to work" toward an extension. She was hired in '14 to a "five-year deal worth $700,000 per year with additional yearly bonuses worth up to $200,000 per year" (STATECOLLEGE.com, 4/20).

GIVING BACK: Former Indiana Univ. football player TERRY TALLEN donated $2M to the school's football program, which will be used to "renovate the program’s locker room facilities at Memorial Stadium" (INDYSTAR.com, 4/20)....Big Ten Commissioner JIM DELANY and his family have given $1M to the Univ. of North Carolina for scholarships. The $1M gift includes $750,000 to "create the Jim and Kitty Delany Endowment Fund for the Carolina Covenant scholarship, designed for low-income students to graduate from UNC debt free." Another $250,000 will "establish a fund to support law students" (NEWSOBSERVER.com, 4/20)

THE GOOD STUFF: Seahawks Exec VP & GM JOHN SCHNEIDER and his wife TRACI "hosted a celebrity waiter event over the weekend that raised $630,000 for their non-profit, Ben's Fund, that gives money to families impacted by autism" (SI.com, 4/23)....Pro Football HOFer JONATHAN OGDEN and his friends came together yesterday to "support the Ogden Foundation at Red Rock Resort's bowling alley in Las Vegas." The Ogden Foundation Celebrity Bowl "raised money for programs that help at-risk families, as well as foster and homeless children in the Las Vegas community." Among the celebrities who participated in the event were comedians CARROT TOP and GEORGE LOPEZ (REVIEWJOURNAL.com, 4/23)....Cardinals WR LARRY FITZGERALD held his 8th annual Celebrity Softball Game at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale. The game "benefits Fitzgerald's First Down Fund and brought out celebrities who were determined to both raise money and back up" their smack talk (AZCENTRAL.com, 4/21)....The Redskins Charitable Foundation, Dale Jr. Foundation and Heart of America teamed up to transform the library at the LaSalle-Backus Educational Campus "into an interactive learning center" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 4/21)....BILL BELICHICK will introduce Baseball HOFer TONY LA RUSSA at the 14th annual Night of Heroes Gala in DC on May 2, where La Russa will be honored by the PenFed Foundation for his "commitment to veterans by providing service dogs through his Animal Rescue Foundation" (ESPN.com, 4/22).
