Media Notes

VANITY FAIR's Joe Pompeo cites sources as saying that Meredith Corp. is "putting the finishing touches on the sale prospectuses that will go out to interested buyers" of Time, Fortune, Money and SI. Investment bank Houlihan Lokey is shopping SI, but it will be "several weeks before the company learns which of the dozen or so parties that have come out of the woodwork thus far are serious suitors." A source said that American Media Inc. "recently made an offer" of more than $300M for the four titles, but the offer was "rejected." Houlihan Lokey has "relayed to SI staff that it feels good about the inbound interest" (VANITYFAIR.com, 4/18).

PLAYING TIME CUT: CABLEFAX DAILY notes it "looks like one of the outcomes" of Fox outbidding NBC for "Thursday Night Football" is that NFL Network "will move out of the Comcast's Digital Starter package, the MSO's most widely distributed digital package." Customers have "started receiving notices that NFL Net will only be available in Digital Preferred and the Sports Entertainment package starting July 1" (CABLEFAX DAILY 4/23).

SAFETY FIRST: In DC, Cindy Boren noted CBS NFL analyst Jay Feely on Saturday tweeted a prom night photo of him "standing between his daughter and her boyfriend -- with one arm around his daughter and the other holding a gun at his side." The timing of his Twitter photo "sparked debate," but CBS "declined to comment" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 4/22).
