LAFC has "finally moved into its own training facility," a new 30,000-square-foot performance facility on the campus of Cal State-L.A., according to Damian Calhoun of the L.A. DAILY NEWS. The $30M privately funded facility was designed by S.F.-based Gensler Sports and "took less than 10 months to complete." The facility has a training field, and some amenities include a 4,000-square foot area for "sports medicine, weight room and recovery space, which are open-air" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 4/5).
STOPPAGE TIME? In Columbus, Andrew Erickson reports the Crew's "practice facility lease" in Obetz, Ohio, is running out, expiring Dec. 31. Village of Obetz Administrator & Economic Development Dir Rod Davisson said that the Crew's monthly lease is $2,280, and the team "has the option to renew the lease for an additional five-year term as long as it is not in default." He added that if the Crew want to extend the lease, they "must notify Obetz by the end of June at the earliest and 90 days before the end of the lease at the latest." Davisson said that if the team wants to end its lease, which would "be the case if the team relocates to Austin" after the '18 season, "no notification is required" (DISPATCH.com, 4/4).
