Anthony Davis Adds To National Profile With ExxonMobil Deal

Davis will appear in commercials as a miniature version of himself promoting the Mobil 1 brandExxonMobil

Pelicans C Anthony Davis has signed a multiyear partnership with ExxonMobil to promote the Mobil 1 Annual Protection product in a national campaign. The deal builds on the relationship the company began with the NBA in ’16 when it became the official motor oil in the U.S. and China. The campaign will kick off later this month with a series of ads featuring a miniature version of Davis under the hood of a car, who will educate consumers about the value of Mobil 1 Protection. The spots will air on ESPN, TNT and NBA TV during NBA game broadcasts and studio shows, and ExxonMobil will also have a digital presence on NBA.com and social media. Basketball HOFer Dikembe Mutombo and NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick have appeared together in similar spots. While Harvick will continue to be featured in ads for Mobil 1, Mutombo will not. ExxonMobil Automotive Marketing Manager Michele Biamonte believes the partnership with the MVP candidate will help the company reach a broader audience than it has been able to in the past. Biamonte said it is a “great step” in ExxonMobil’s journey with the NBA, adding the company is “really focused” on working with the league moving forward. ExxonMobil worked with N.Y.-based UM Studios to foster the deal with Davis and his reps at Wasserman. ExxonMobil joins Nike and Red Bull in Davis’ portfolio. He also appeared in an ad for H&R Block in ’16.
