Thunder's Bennett Makes First Public Appearance Since Brain Surgery

Thunder Chair CLAY BENNETT underwent brain surgery "sometime before" the season began, and last week was the "first chance" for many fans to see Bennett since the surgery, according to Berry Tramel of the OKLAHOMAN. Bennett, who introduced new Oklahoma Univ. President JIM GALLOGLY during an on-campus ceremony, appeared to have lost weight and donned a "thinned face and an ominous scar across his head." But he "looks much better than he did four months ago." Details about Bennett's condition are "scarce," and he is "certainly not going to talk about it." Bennett "remains friendly in social settings," but his "deliberate speaking remains unchanged." A serious health issue with an NBA owner in a small market "could cause stability concerns," but not with the Thunder, "thanks to the way Bennett set up the organization" (OKLAHOMAN, 4/2).
