Rugby Int’l Marketing CEO David Sternberg Resigns From Role

Turmoil continues at Rugby Int’l Marketing, the for-profit marketing company partially owned by USA Rugby and CSM Sports & Entertainment. CEO DAVID STERNBERG has resigned, the company said today, following just two weeks after Chair CHAD KECK stepped down. Also today, the company said it will undertake a strategic review of RIM’s operations and activities, done in conjunction with a task force already reviewing RIM’s commercial objectives and strategy. Former USA Rugby CMO PAM KOSANKE will replace Sternberg on an interim basis, effective March 23, and will also step into the BOD Chair role, which USA Rugby CEO DAN PAYNE briefly held after Keck left. RIM’s major asset, the digital Rugby Channel, has lost $4.2M since its founding, according to minutes of the USA Rugby Congress held in February. The Congress issued a statement at the time that said, “The USA Rugby Congress has grave concerns about the operations of RIM and its future viability.” The strategic reviews are expected to be done in time for the organization's June BOD meeting. Aside from The Rugby Channel, RIM has also worked to promote international matches in the U.S. and is selling the '18 Rugby World Cup Sevens this July in S.F.
