Retired Browns LT Joe Thomas "could be headed to the broadcast booth this season," according Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. Thomas on his "The ThomaHawk Show" podcast said, "I've got several options that are on the table. I've auditioned for a few color jobs on TV. I'm going to audition for one coming up. I've had a number of broadcast people reach out to me to gauge my interest. Like I mentioned, the Browns have talked to me about doing something with them.'' Thomas also revealed that Browns Owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam "offered him a job within the organization," but that he is "not ready for that kind of a commitment." Thomas: "This[time] next year I won't be taking a fulltime coaching job, and I won't be doing a full-time front office job" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 3/15). USA TODAY's A.J. Perez noted Thomas "had a tryout with Fox Sports about two weeks before he announced his retirement." Thomas "made on-air appearances with ESPN in January on 'NFL Live,'" but it is "not clear what role -- if any -- Thomas would fill at either network" (USATODAY.com, 3/14). In N.Y., Andrew Marchand cites sources as saying Thomas' audition with Fox left the net "very impressed." Sources also said that Fox is bringing in Cowboys TE Jason Witten and retired QB Carson Palmer for "analyst tryouts" (N.Y. POST, 3/15).
