MLB has expanded its partnership with YouTube in a new two-year extension that will give the Google-owned YouTube TV brand the presenting sponsorship of the ’18 and ’19 World Series, continuing an effort that began last fall and was the Fall Classic’s first-ever such entitlement. YouTube TV will also hold a new “First Pitch” sponsorship in which the brand will be showcased during the starts of games on MLB Network and MLB.TV. The agreement also features the previously announced inclusion of MLB Network to the YouTube TV pay streaming service. Financial terms were not disclosed, but YouTube TV activations will include national TV spots, in-game broadcast call-outs, branding on MLB digital properties and social media accounts, and in-stadium promotion. The parties are also planning to offer MLB.TV to YouTube TV subscribers as a fee-based add-on. “Our innovative partnership allowed us to build awareness for YouTube TV and have a voice during one of the biggest live sporting events of the year,” YouTube Global Head of YouTube TV & Originals Marketing Angela Courtin said. “We are excited to renew our World Series partnership as well as play a role in games throughout the year.”
