Warriors G Stephen Curry has partnered with President Obama's My Brother's Keeper Alliance for two years, and last night wore a "pair of customized Curry 4 sneakers" that will "later be signed by Curry and auctioned off," with proceeds benefiting communities connected to MBK, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.com. The sneakers were designed by shoe companies Dez Customz and Kreative Custom Kicks in "tandem with the foundation, and styled in a black to white fade with subtle gold accents throughout, symbolizing togetherness and achievement." Featuring the Alliance's "wordmark and circular logo icon along the collar, one of Obama's defining quotes from his last MBK National Summit speech while in office can also be found in script throughout the toe." Curry on Christmas Day "appeared in a new MBK campaign." Both the NBA and NBPA have "signed on for a five-year partnership with My Brother's Keeper, providing additional funding and access to even more NBA players" (ESPN.com, 2/28).

GETTING INVOLVED: In San Jose, Mark Medina noted the Warriors on Tuesday visited the National Museum of African American History and Culture with children from Seat Pleasant, Md., "instead of visiting the White House" to celebrate their NBA title. Curry recently has "placed a higher priority on ensuring his philanthropic and social causes speak louder than his criticisms" of President Trump. Curry said, “All the noise around our country, the different problems and issues that have arisen and the people that are trying to divide our country puts everything into perspective. We’re all so small in this world. But we all have an opportunity to do something good and find our unique way to make an impact.” Since partnering with the United Nations Foundation's “Nothing but Nets” campaign in '12, Curry has "used various methods to distribute mosquito nets to protect families across Africa from malaria." Curry has also partnered with ThanksUSA to "help military families pay for college." Since '10, Curry has "raised about $200,000 for 60 college scholarships for military families" (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 2/28).
