Overnight Ratings: NASCAR Cup Series Leads Non-Olympic Telecasts

Fox yesterday drew a 3.1 overnight rating for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Atlanta, marking the best non-Olympic sports figure of the weekend. Airing up against the last afternoon of competition telecasts from Pyeongchang, the race was down from a 3.6 overnight last year (no Olympic competition). The NASCAR race also had a rain delay, pushing the start from 1:00pm ET to 3:30pm. The race then ended just into primetime (7:15pm). The 3.1 overnight for NASCAR topped the 2.9 overnight for ABC’s Thunder-Warriors on Saturday night, as well as the 2.9 for the final round of the PGA Tour Honda Classic yesterday, which saw Tiger Woods finish in 12th place.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
