Medal Stand: Big Air Puts On A Show In Olympic Debut

Each day during the Olympics, THE DAILY offers our take on the business performances of some of the people, sponsors, broadcasters and other entities around Pyeongchang.

GOLD: TEAM USA -- Led primarily by women, the U.S. had its second-best two-day Winter Games medal haul ever Wednesday and Thursday, collecting nine medals overall. From snowboarding to hockey, American women have won outright or partnered for 14 of Team USA’s 21 medals in Pyeongchang thus far.

SILVER: BIG AIR -- The newest snowboard competition debuted this week, moving the Olympics up a notch on the coolness factor and giving partners another bonus.

BRONZE: ANGELA RUGGIERO -- The four-time Olympic medalist in hockey finishes her eight-year run as a member of the IOC this weekend, in which she gave the U.S. a consistent and important voice on the world sport scene.

TIN: NBC VIEWERSHIP -- Even when factoring in broadcast, cable and digital, NBC’s primetime viewership numbers are creeping ever closer to Turin from 12 years ago. Yes, they’re still drawing relatively big numbers, and certainly drops are expected because the media landscape has changed so much, but the decrease still has to be disappointing.
