Fast Company Ranks NBA As Most Tech-Savvy League

The NBA has been identified by FAST COMPANY as the "most tech-savvy league today," with the magazine's Daniel Terdiman writing the league's growth is "powered in part by a mobile-focused digital strategy that engages fans in compelling new ways." The NBA has "made significant enhancements to League Pass, its live-stream product that allows fans to view games in all markets" and also "installed additional cameras in every arena and introduced Mobile View, which provides tighter, zoomed-in angles for smaller screens." NBA Exec VP/Digital Media Melissa Brenner said that she is now "exploring the 'infinite amounts of content we can produce with technology.'" The NBA in May will get "even more virtual with the debut of the 17-team NBA 2K League -- the first e-sports league -- operated by one of the American majors" (FASTCOMPANY.com, 2/22). FAST COMPANY ranks the NBA No. 10 among this year's 50 most innovative companies in part due to "leading the leagues in technology." Activision Blizzard was No. 38 for "elevating esports to the big leagues." Graduate Hotels was listed at 50th for "bringing team spirit to university towns." No other companies endemic to sports business were listed (FASTCOMPANY.com, 2/22).
