Overnight Ratings: ABC's Cavs-Celts Tilt Continues Strong NBA Numbers

ABC yesterday drew a 3.6 overnight for Cavaliers-Celtics in the 3:30pm ET window, marking the league’s fourth best game rating this season to date and best for an NBA Sunday afternoon game on ABC since ’15. The game, which featured a revamped Cavs lineup after the trade deadline, earned a 20.5 local rating in Cleveland-Akron. The No. 2 market was Columbus with an 8.1 local rating. Boston was No. 5 with a 5.5 rating. Meanwhile, ESPN’s “The Jump” on Thursday -- a special three-hour episode -- had its highest-rated episode ever with a trade deadline edition.

START YOUR ENGINES: NASCAR this year moved its Advance Auto Parts Clash – the season-opening non-points race for the Monster Energy Cup Series – to a Sunday afternoon slot. The race from 3:00-5:00pm ET yesterday drew a 1.4 overnight on FS1. Last year, rain moved the race to an early Sunday afternoon slot (1.0 overnight). Two years ago, Fox on a Saturday night drew a 2.6 overnight for the race in its traditional Saturday night slot.
