The Dolphins Cancer Challenge "gets bigger every year," and this year's edition "drew a crowd of more than 4,000 participants for its signature event at Hard Rock Stadium" on Saturday. The day "featured five bike routes throughout South Florida, including a 52-mile ride starting in Boca Raton" as well as a 100-mile loop "starting and ending at the stadium." It also had a 5K, a "carnival-like party on the field and concerts by the GOO GOO DOLLS and BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS." Nick Gilbert has already been through one life-saving brain surgery more than 10 years ago

GET WELL SOON: A Cavaliers spokesperson said that NICK GILBERT, the 21-year-old son of Owner DAN GILBERT, is "scheduled to undergo major brain surgery at a Detroit-area hospital this week." Gilbert's son was "born with neurofibromatosis," which is a "nerve disorder that causes tumors to grow anywhere in the body at any time." Nick Gilbert has "already been through one life-saving brain surgery more than 10 years ago and has been treated by chemotherapy on and off for 15 years" (, 2/11).

NAMES: Former PGA Tour Commissioner TIM FINCHEM said that he is "staying busy" 13 months into retirement. He is "spending more time with his family and working on his golf game," as well as being "more involved" with youth golf program The First Tee. Finchem: "I'm really excited about where that program can go now. You'll probably hear more about this later in the year. There's a lot of things that I think we can do and we're going to do" (, 2/10)....Philadelphia-based WIP-FM host and former NFLer JON RITCHIE on Friday morning was "arrested for DUI." Ritchie "faces charges for DUI, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person." He was "released without bail, and his next court date is scheduled for March 14" (, 2/9)....Actor MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY took out a full-page ad in Sunday's Austin American-Stateman to congratulate fellow Austin native, Eagles QB NICK FOLES, for "winning the Super Bowl." IN MEMORY: AL WESTER, the first radio voice of the Saints, whose local and national broadcasting career "spanned more than 60 years, died last week in a New Orleans hospital." Wester broadcasted Saints games from '67-70 (, 2/10).
