Weekend Plans With NLL CMO Ashley Dabb

One of Dabb's favorite recent weekend memories was a trip to Camden Yards after a James Taylor concert in DCCONTRIBUTED

NLL CMO ASHLEY DABB is fresh off witnessing her Eagles take down the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, and this weekend could serve as a needed down period after a heavy couple weeks of traveling. Dabb, who traveled to Minneapolis with some NLL staffers and a few friends, has been a longtime presence on the Philadelphia sports scene, having spent nearly a decade with the Union prior to taking over the NLL's marketing efforts. She spoke to THE DAILY from the league's HQ on Thursday (with just a few Eagles fans hollering in the streets below) on how to decompress after a long work trip, her pop culture tastes and the ideal weekend getaway.

THE KICK BACK: I’m looking forward to being home Friday night after a full week on the road. I’ve been in four different cities this week after the Super Bowl last weekend, so looking forward to a little downtime. I was at a conference in S.F. and then had meetings the rest of the week. The travel ebbs and flows. I travel a ton during our preseason when I’m doing social media training with all our teams. Then it’s really just based on meetings and a lot of quick trips in a steady procession. I can be in two, three places in a week typically. Saturday I’ll be going to my favorite winery in New Jersey with a friend, and that'll come on the heels of training for a marathon earlier that morning. I’ll do my long run then because I’m sure I won’t feel like it on Sunday. Then Sunday will be really about relaxing, probably watching a good amount of TV, and then my boyfriend and I will actually be getting a massage. We’ve both been traveling a lot -- he was in Minnesota for over two weeks straight recently so he’s ready to relax as well.

OFF THE FIELD: In my free time I’m always interested in trying new restaurants, and if I’m traveling, I’ll often try to find the best donuts in town. I’ve been here since college and the Philly food scene has really improved over the years. Any place with good wine and tequila are usually my go-to spots. I’m a big reader as well, which ties in nicely with the travel. I have plenty of time on planes. Usually I try to read about 20 books a year. Last year I got to about 17. Any genre, it just has to be interesting to me. TV-wise I’m into a few Netflix shows. “MINDHUNTER” was great, and I really like “NARCOS.” I was interested how they would continue after the second season (when PABLO ESCOBAR was killed). “ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK” as well. The one I haven’t seen is “STRANGER THINGS,” that’s next on the list.

TROPICAL TIMES: For my favorite weekend getaway, I’d make sure to go somewhere with the sun and the sand. Maybe Clearwater, Fla., or somewhere in Mexico. A great recent weekend was a trip to Nationals Park with my boyfriend for a JAMES TAYLOR concert. Then we did a quick drive up to an Orioles game at Camden Yards. We had another great weekend in Nashville recently with a lot of fun bar-hopping and live music. I’m big on country music, from JASON ALDEAN to the older guys like GARTH BROOKS and TIM MCGRAW.
