Sources: Oklahoma's Castiglione To Become One Of Six New CFP Committee Members

Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione "will be" one of the six new CFP selection committee members, according to sources cited by Heather Dinich of ESPN.com. Castiglione has "served on the NCAA baseball committee." He was also on the "men's basketball committee for five years and chair in his final season" in '15-16. The terms of the following committee members -- Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt, Clemson AD Dan Radakovich, former USA Today reporter Steve Wieberg, former Arkansas AD Jeff Long, former coach Tyrone Willingham and former NCAA exec Tom Jernstedt -- "expire this month" (ESPN.com, 1/16). In Tulsa, Eric Bailey notes it is "expected that Castiglione would be the Big 12's nomination" in place of the departing Hocutt (TULSA WORLD, 1/17). In Oklahoma City, Berry Tramel writes the only downside for OU is that Castiglione would be "recused from the room when the topic turns" to the school. However, Castiglione would be "allowed to remain to discuss any other Big 12 team." Castiglione is the "second-longest serving" AD in the Power 5, behind only Utah's Chris Hill (OKLAHOMAN, 1/17).
