Olympic Marketing Notes: Nike Unveils Team USA Medal Stand Uniforms

NBC's Carson Daly noted Nike's medal stand uniforms for Team USA at the Pyeongchang Games consist of a "two-piece jacket set, pants, boots (and) gloves. Daly: “The trend here is ‘stay warm.’ All the medal ceremonies are outside, except for hockey (“Today,” NBC, 1/8).

GRAB A CUP OF JOE: USOC sponsor J.M. Smucker's Folgers coffee brand launched its "Here's to Coaches" campaign for Pyeongchang, activating around Gold Medal-winning skier Ted Ligety, cross country skier Jessie Diggins and Gold Medal-winning para-snowboarder Evan Strong. The campaign, which launches with a short film starting Ligety and coach Forest Carey, will run through the end of the Games (J.M. Smucker Co.)....Great Clips has agreed to sponsor U.S. freeskier Bobby Brown ahead of the Games (Great Clips).

HOUSE WARMING: Team Canada on Monday unveiled its Canada Olympic House for the Games, which will be located "near Gangneung Olympic Park, a cluster of venues for events including speed-skating, curling and hockey." Some areas of the house "are partnerships with COC corporate sponsors Air Canada, Bell and Canadian Tire." This will mark the first time the house "will be open to the public" after being "limited to Canadians and invited guests" at past Games (CBC.ca, 1/8).
