Univ. Of South Carolina's New Football Operations Building Starting To Take Shape

The Univ. of South Carolina's new football operations building, being "erected right beside the practice facility, is starting to take shape," according to John Whittle of 247SPORTS.com. There is a "roof on top of the structure now and completion is still on track." The target date for completion has been December of next year, but South Carolina AD Ray Tanner said that this date "may advance a bit." The school broke ground on the $50M, 110,000-square-foot facility in January of this year. The administration also is in the process of "putting together some plans to enhance the fan experience at Williams-Brice Stadium." There are often "complaints about crowded concessions, restrooms and ease of travel along the concourses." Tanner: "We’ll have more concession areas on the floor for the East side. It’s too congested over there, so we’re trying to alleviate some congestion on the East side." One of the new enhancements to the gameday atmosphere in '17 was the "addition of a DJ to stadium." Tanner said that the "plan is to continue with the DJ" in '18. Tanner: "I’ve got some positives and some negatives. I get those Monday morning emails but after a win, I don’t get as many. I think in general it was well received. I think a lot of people thought the enthusiasm was great, especially in second half runs. The DJ got a little credit for getting things going. I think it was a positive. From a recruiting aspect, it was well-received" (247SPORTS.com, 12/26).
