Weekend Plans With Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment's Hugh Weber

It will be a relaxing holiday for Devils President HUGH WEBER, who is headed to the Lake Wylie area in North Carolina to spend time with some extended family in the coming days. It has been a busy year for the exec, who saw his NHL team come together with the 76ers under one roof with Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, where he also holds the President title. Before heading out for the holidays, Weber spoke to THE DAILY about how he spends his time away from the office and what a typical weekend looks like around his household.

HOUSE CALL: I make a point to be at all of our games (Devils & 76ers) if I can, so if we have a game on a Friday night I’m definitely there. The good part about what we do is that our families also get to come and enjoy those games as well. I have two young boys, 15 and 16, and then two daughters in their early 20’s. If there aren't games over the weekend, we try to program Friday-Sunday as little as possible in my house. So much of my life is calendarized, with me having to be in so many different places at the same time during the week. So weekends are when we have time as a family. Our house is also the place where all my kids’ friends hang out, so we’re pretty much ready for guys weekend every weekend. We normally have 5-8 young men staying with us on the weekend. We have a ping-pong table and we play a lot of darts and things like that. Most of what we do is based around sports and entertainment.

RISE & SHINE: Saturdays I get up and go for a run before everyone gets up. Then when I get back, I’ll start our routine for breakfast. The boys come down, and we'll make either pancakes, eggs, pigs in a blanket, something like that, and my sons and his friends help out with that till about late morning. Then there’s some chores around the house or there will be some things I have to get done for work. It's always something a little different, not the same every weekend obviously, but we do spend most of our time together as a family.

IN THE MEANTIME: Food-wise, we really like to go to a variety of different places. At some point each weekend we will probably hit Chick-fil-A -- the boys love it. Sweet tea is a very popular thing in my house. We don’t watch a ton of TV other than RedZone on Sundays, but we do watch some Netflix and Hulu. We have a very competitive fantasy football league around our house as well. The boys are always talking about our matchups. Sundays are usually a time when I’m in the kitchen cooking some meals for the week. Later on Sundays we typically will take our dogs for a good long walk together. That's one of those nice quiet moments over a typical weekend for me.
