Redskins Front Office Against Wearing Color Rush Uniforms On "TNF" Despite NFL's Wishes

While the NFL "wants" the Redskins to wear the standard color rush uniforms tomorrow on "TNF" against the Cowboys, members of the team's front office reportedly "do not," according to sources cited by JP Finlay of NBC SPORTS WASHINGTON (TWITTER.com, 11/28). In Richmond, Michael Phillips notes Redskins President Bruce Allen has "long been against the Color Rush jerseys, even going so far as to propose banning them at a league meeting earlier this year." Phillips: "His reason? The uniforms are 'garish.'" The Redskins for "TNF" games to date have "avoided wearing their alternate uniforms, which are a yellow color." Last year they played the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, but that "isn't a Color Rush game." In '15, Color Rush was "restricted" "TNF" games that aired solely on NFL Net, and the Redskins' "TNF" game that season aired on CBS. Redskins coach Jay Gruden yesterday said that he "didn't know which uniforms the team would take the field in on Thursday night" (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 11/29). YAHOO SPORTS' DJ Dunson noted the "penalty for not wearing the uniforms is only $5,000." The Redskins "should just pay the fine and stop letting these unis be a nuisance" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 11/28).

HEARD IT HERE FIRST: Former NFLer Chris Cooley on ESPN Radio 980 DC this morning said that the Redskins are "planning on wearing all-burgundy uniforms" tomorrow night. Cooley: "No mustard yellow. Huge news. Burgundy on burgundy. They can change. I think they can still change. But as of now, it is certainly burgundy on burgundy." In DC, Dan Steinberg notes the team has "offered no official comment" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 11/29).
