Facility Notes

In Toronto, Kurtis Larson notes the "success" of the Argonauts and Toronto FC sharing BMO Field has "silenced naysayers who said it couldn’t work" in '15 when then-MLSE CEO Tim Leiweke spearheaded a $150M project to refurbish the venue. The Argos won the Grey Cup on Sunday, and TFC hosts the Crew in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship tomorrow night. Leiweke: "I don’t think the Argos could have pulled off what they just pulled off without BMO Field. I think as much pain as we went through, with everyone shooting at us, I think it has worked out extremely well for the Argos and TFC and Toronto." Leiweke, now serving as Oak View Group CEO, said Toronto Mayor John Tory "should be smiling today because of the bet he made at leading the charge to redoing these facilities" (TORONTO SUN, 11/28).

RETRACTABLE, RIGHT? In Indianapolis, Dakota Crawford noted it took until about 11:40am ET yesterday to "get one half" of the Lucas Oil Stadium roof closed. Capital Improvement Board Exec Dir Barney Levengood said that a "broken sensor kept the roof's west side from closing Sunday night" after Titans-Colts. Levengood said that after the roof was fixed, there was "no major issue." Levengood added that he would "feel comfortable opening and closing the roof moving forward, and the sensor going off seemed to be a random bug as opposed to a major problem." The "next major event scheduled" at the venue is the Big Ten football championship on Saturday (INDYSTAR.com, 11/27).

IN DA CLUB: The Bulls will open a new courtside club for season-ticket holders at United Center prior to tonight's game against the Suns. The 3,815-square-foot Magellan Courtside Club accommodates between 150-190 people, with exclusive access included in the price of the courtside seats. The new all-inclusive food and drink club with private booths is located under the stands at court level near the arena’s VIP east entrance. Magellan Corp. has been a Bulls sponsor since the '10-11 season (John Lombardo, Staff Writer).
