Panthers TE Greg Olsen Will Serve As A Guest Analyst For Fox' Rams-Vikings Game

Panthers TE Greg Olsen will become the rare active NFL player to call a game for Fox when he serves as a "guest analyst alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis for the Rams-Vikings game" on Nov. 19, according to Joseph Person of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. Olsen becomes the "third active player to work as a Fox analyst during a regular-season game," joining Matt Hasselbeck ('14) and Marcus Allen ('94). The assignment comes three weeks before the Panthers host the Vikings, so Olsen "isn’t expecting to sit in on the pre-game production meeting" with Vikings coach Mike Zimmer. Olsen has "helped out with NFL Network’s combine coverage the past couple of years, and two summers ago he stopped by the Fox studios" in L.A. and did a "mock broadcast with Burkhardt." Olsen said of getting into broadcasting after his playing career, "This is not something I’m looking to do in the next year or two. This is something just to continue to get experience, see what I like, see what I’m good at, what I’m not good at" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/10). ESPN.com's David Newton noted Olsen already is "somewhat of a media darling, appearing as a guest for several national shows over the past few years" (ESPN.com, 11/9).
