Media Notes

In Minneapolis, Rochelle Olson notes ESPN will "broadcast from the Crystal Court in the IDS Center on Nicollet Mall" the Wednesday before Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4. The location provides fans an "advantage they wouldn't have outdoors: skyway-level vantage points of the celebrity-filled broadcasts on the ground floor." The ESPN stage is "usually packed deep with fans." Just outside the doors of the IDS Center, Super Bowl Live will "take place" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 11/8).

SERVICE MEMBERS: In Virginia, Lee Tolliver notes Fox Sports broadcasters will be at Naval Station Norfolk this weekend in "honor of the country's veterans." Fox' Jay Glazer will "host a viewing party" for FS1's "UFC Fight Night" on Saturday from Old Dominion Univ.'s Constant Center. On Sunday, the "Fox NFL Sunday" pregame show will be "live on Pier 10 at the naval station" (Norfolk VIRGINIAN-PILOT, 11/8).

STEADY AS SHE GOES: In Boston, Jon Chesto notes Beasley Broadcast Group within the coming months will take over local radio station WBZ-FM, and Beasley CEO Caroline Beasley yesterday met with WBZ employees, noting that she "expects to keep" the station's 75-plus person crew intact. Chesto writes the opportunity to buy a "strong brand" like WBZ was "too good to resist, in part because it will help diversify the company beyond its focus on music" (BOSTON GLOBE, 11/8).

WILDCAT FORMATION: In Cleveland, Joe Vardon noted the friendship between Nuggets F Richard Jefferson and Cavaliers F Channing Frye, both Arizona alum, "led to the creation of a podcast" when both were with the Cavs. The podcast has rebranded as "Road Trippin': Richard vs. Channing" and also "split into two different shows." Frye will "maintain the Cavs' version" alongside Cavs sideline reporter Allie Clifton and Spanish play-by-play announcer Rafael Hernandez Brito. Jefferson will "host his version with members from his new team" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 11/7).
