Overnight Ratings: Breeders' Cup Classic From Del Mar Down From Recent Years

NBC on Saturday night drew a 1.5 overnight for the Breeders' Cup Classic from Del Mar, which saw Gun Runner hold off Arrogate. That figure is down from a 1.6 last year from Santa Anita, which was also in primetime and saw Arrogate edge California Chrome for the win. The race in '15 drew a 2.6 overnight for an afternoon telecast from Keeneland, where American Pharoah won the “grand slam” of horse racing. This year’s rating also is down from a 1.8 overnight for the '14 race, which also aired in primetime. The '13 event drew a 1.4 on a Saturday afternoon.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from weekend telecasts on broadcast TV.
