Audience Analysis: Fox Scores Big With Blockbuster Weekend Across NFL/MLB/CFB

Fox had the broadcast net’s biggest non-Super Bowl weekend on record last week in terms of minutes consumed (23.4 billion minutes). The slate began with World Series Game 3 on Friday night, with Saturday highlighted by Penn State-Ohio State and World Series Game 4. The slate wrapped on Sunday with an NFL doubleheader -- highlighted by Cowboys-Redskins in the national window -- and World Series Game 5 in primetime. Meanwhile, the Penn State-Ohio State game, coming during Fox Sports’ first year with the Big Ten, marked the net’s most-viewed college football game on record with 9.9 million viewers. The game also saw an average minute audience of 104,228 viewers on Fox Sports Go, which is the best for any CFB game yet on the streaming platform.

FLORIDA-GEORGIA LINE: CBS again saw a big drop for the annual Georgia-Florida football matchup, which Georgia won 42-7 and led 21-0 after the first quarter. The game last Saturday averaged 3.4 million viewers, which is the game’s lowest mark in nearly 20 years. Last year’s 4.5 million viewers at the time was the lowest mark in at least a decade.

The chart below lists final audience figures from select recent sports telecasts.
