NFL Takes Another Hit As Dolphins Assistant Coach Shown On Video Snorting White Powder

Nothing in the NFL this morning is "generating the buzz ... around the league" than the video of Dolphins offensive line coach Chris Foerster snorting a white powdery substance off a desk, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He noted that includes a "ton of things," including Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones saying he will not play team members who disrespect the flag and potential season-ending injuries to Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. and Texans DE J.J. Watt ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 10/9). ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert noted the website's "top NFL headlines" this morning at one point involved "snorting powder, disrespect flag, trouble remembering, parking lot confrontation" (TWITTER.com, 10/9). In DC, Mark Maske notes the NFL is "struggling mightily these days to have its Sundays be about the action on the field." The season so far has been "filled with obstacles for what long has been the nation's most popular and prosperous sports league." The Cowboys and Packers "played a thrilling game" that was the highest-rated matchup of the week, but the "compelling on-field action ... was overshadowed" by Jones' flag statement. That comes amid "questions about quality of play" during the first couple weeks and "ongoing concerns about sagging TV ratings and attendance issues, particularly in Los Angeles" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 10/9).

NFL TO INVESTIGATE VIDEO: USA TODAY's A.J. Perez reports the NFL will investigate the Foerster video, as coaches, like players, "fall under the NFL's personal conduct policy." It is not immediately known "when and where the video was shot" (USATODAY.com, 10/9). In Miami, Adam Beasley cites a source as saying that the video is "from this year." The Dolphins "believe the episode happened on their time in their building." The "embarrassment from the tape ... absolutely touched the team," as Foerster resigned this morning (MIAMIHERALD.com, 10/9). In Ft. Lauderdale, Dave Hyde reports the video "came to light from a Las Vegas model named Kijuana Nige, who said she released it for social injustice" (SUN-SENTINEL.com, 10/9).
