Toyota Using U.S. Olympic Endorsers To Promote NASCAR Deal By Driving Pace Car

Toyota is blending two key sponsorships this fall, hiring three Olympians and a Paralympian to drive its Camry pace car at four NASCAR playoff races. Paralympic track & field athlete Hannah McFadden will lead the way Sunday at Dover Int'l Speedway, while mogul skier Hannah Kearney will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 8 and speedskater Brian Hansen will be at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 22. The first activation was at Chicagoland Speedway on Sept. 17, when speedskater Sugar Todd was in front. Toyota will also present an interactive USA Hockey simulation game at the playoff races at Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix Int'l Raceway in November. A NASCAR partner since '04, Toyota became a global Olympics sponsor in January and has signed additional deals with four U.S. NGBs. “We’re working hard to bring athletes together so they can experience each other’s worlds,” said Toyota North America GM Keith Dahl. “We hope that all of our athlete partners can learn from each other as they continue to inspire people to push boundaries and reach their full potential.”
