Carbon Leaf: IOC TOP Sponsor DowDuPont Adds New Designation To Deal

IOC TOP sponsor DowDuPont has acquired an additional category designation more than seven years into its 10-year deal, becoming the “official carbon partner of the IOC.” It had previously been known only as the “official chemistry company of the Olympic Games.” Terms were not disclosed, but the new deal expires at the same time as the original '10 contract, after the '20 Tokyo Games. DowDuPont has now pledged to help the IOC mitigate its carbon emissions across all of its global operations, including executive travel, member meetings and day-to-day operations at its Lausanne, Switzerland, headquarters. It had previously performed similar duties with the '14 Sochi and '16 Rio Games through separate local deals with the organizers. Dow Chemical Co. and DuPont merged in '15 and recently renamed the combined entity DowDuPont. Its original 10-year deal with the IOC was reportedly worth $100M.
