Causeway Media Partners, an investment fund co-founded by Celtics Managing Partner & CEO Wyc Grousbeck, has led a Series B funding round of more than $7M for SquadLocker, a Rhode Island-based youth sports apparel company. SquadLocker allows teams to design and order their own custom uniforms and apparel through its online platform, similar to several other direct-to-consumer clothing outfits. The company also has formed partnerships with several prominent youth sports league management systems. The funding round represents the first institutional investment for SquadLocker. Bob Higgins, a partner at Causeway Media, will join SquadLocker’s BOD, and the new funds are targeted in part for an expansion of marketing, product development and manufacturing infrastructure. Causeway Media also has invested in ticketing company SeatGeek, streaming outfit FloSports, venue technology company VenueNext and digital radio platform TuneIn, among others. It continues to be focused on tech-based sports companies that have a particular target on younger fans. “We’re looking hard at how consumption patterns are changing, and are doing what we can to see around the corner,” Grousbeck said.
