In DC, Scott Allen noted the Nationals on Thursday night showed off their "Skittles-branded 'Taste The Rainbow' tarp." The "rainbow-colored covering is part of the multiyear sponsorship deal" the club signed with Northern Virginia-based Mars Inc. The tarp reads, “If raindrops were Skittles, this wouldn’t be that bad" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 8/3).

GRIFFIN DOOR: FAST COMPANY's Jeff Beer noted Jordan Brand's new campaign features Clippers F Blake Griffin in a spot that takes place on a playground and "emphasizes hanging out as much as hanging on the rim." It is a "compelling swing at bridging that gap between streetwear and sports performance, a laid back, breezy vibe over the usual aspirational tone of major sports brands" (FASTCOMPANY.com, 8/3).

THAT WAS QUICK
: Puma CEO Bjorn Gulden said that the brand could make Usain Bolt the "head of its Caribbean business once he retires" from competitive track & field. REUTERS' Emma Thomasson noted Bolt is "due to run his last races at the World Athletics Championships in London this week and next." He intends to "stay close to athletics and is eyeing some sort of roving ambassadorial role" (REUTERS, 8/3).
