Dallas-Based Startup Fan Media Network Aims To Revolutionize Sale Of Sports Content

Dallas-based startup Fan Media Network is made to let "journalists, ex-players and fans upload 45-second reporting clips to its site or app," and people who like the reporter's content can "give them money," according to Evan Hoopfer of the DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL. The development of the app has been "almost three years in the making," and one of its features will allow a TV station or newspaper to buy clips to "broadcast on its station or site." The cost is "$50 if the mobile journalist is a fan and $250 if the person is a trained journalist or ex-player." Users of the net can also make money "through advertising." The reporter "keeps half, and Fan Network Media keeps half." This model "allows people to use Fan Media Network's platform, but doesn't mean the company is paying the reporters or investing in expensive equipment." Fan Media Network CEO Kirk Berridge "wants to target trained journalists who are being laid off from their jobs" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/2).
