Blue Jackets Partner With Scotland-Based BrewDog In Company's First U.S. Sports Deal

Scotland-based BrewDog has a new partnership with the Blue Jackets that will make the company's "locally brewed beer available" during the team's games, according to Dan Gearino of the COLUMBUS DISPATCH. It is BrewDog's "first U.S. sports partnership, following the company's opening" of a U.S. HQ in Canal Winchester, Ohio. BrewDog beer will be sold at "two portable vending stations." Financial terms were not disclosed, but the agreement includes BrewDog's sponsorship of a "digital feature showing dogs adoptable through the Capital Area Humane Society, among other promotions." Several other beer brands, including Labatt and Anheuser-Busch, have "promotional deals with the Blue Jackets." Partly "because of this," BrewDog is "not going to be listed as an official beer of the team" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 8/3). Blue Jackets VP/Corporate Sponsorships Ryan Shirk said that the deal has "no impact on the team’s ongoing relationship with Columbus-based Land-Grant Brewing Co. which is one of several Ohio brewers with beer in the arena, including its Goon strong American pale ale, made specifically for the Blue Jackets." BrewDog Special Projects Manager Keith Bennet said that there are "no plans for other deals at this time though the company would consider opportunities if any come up" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/2).
